DateWatcher Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 27, 2026

DateWatcher is a personal safety application designed to help users create Watches, receive check-in reminders, and use safety escalation features.

This Privacy Policy explains how DateWatcher collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the DateWatcher application and related services.

DateWatcher is operated by Tech Consuls LLC ("DateWatcher", "we", "us", or "our").

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create or use a DateWatcher account, we may collect information such as your name, email address, account identifiers, and information necessary to authenticate your account.

If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email address, we may receive an Apple private relay email address instead of your personal email address.

Safety Profile

If you create a safety profile, DateWatcher may store information you voluntarily provide for use in safety-related situations. You control the information you add to your safety profile.

Emergency Contacts

If you add an emergency contact, we may store information such as the contact's name, telephone number, and other information you provide about that contact.

We use this information to provide the safety and escalation functionality you configure. You should provide another person's information only when you have appropriate permission or another lawful basis to do so.

Watch Information

When you create a Watch, we may collect and process information associated with that Watch, including:

Location Information

If you grant DateWatcher location permission, we may collect location information in connection with the safety features you use. This information may include latitude and longitude coordinates, timestamps, and related location data.

Depending on the features and permissions you enable, DateWatcher may obtain your location during an active Watch, when you check in, when you request help, or during an escalation event.

You can manage location permissions through your device settings. Disabling location access may prevent certain safety features from functioning as intended.

Device and Notification Information

DateWatcher may collect information necessary to register your device and deliver safety-related notifications, including Apple Push Notification service (APNs) device tokens, device registration information, and notification activity.

Subscriptions and Purchases

If you purchase DateWatcher+, your purchase is processed through Apple's App Store. DateWatcher may receive information from Apple necessary to verify and manage your subscription.

This information may include product and transaction identifiers, purchase and expiration dates, subscription status, and other technical identifiers associated with the transaction. We do not receive your full payment-card information from Apple.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use information collected through DateWatcher to:

We do not use your safety or location information for behavioral advertising.

3. Safety Notifications and Communications

DateWatcher uses push notifications as part of its safety functionality. These may include check-in reminders, missed check-in alerts, Watch status updates, and escalation notifications.

Certain safety features may also send SMS or other communications to telephone numbers you provide, such as an emergency contact's number. These communications are for transactional and safety purposes, not advertising.

Message and data rates may apply depending on the mobile carrier.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information with service providers when necessary to operate DateWatcher. These providers may assist us with cloud hosting, push notifications, SMS delivery, authentication, subscription processing, security, and other infrastructure functions.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law or valid legal process, investigate fraud or abuse, protect the safety of our users, or protect the rights and integrity of DateWatcher.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide DateWatcher, maintain your account, operate safety functionality, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.

When information is no longer reasonably necessary for these purposes, we may delete or anonymize it, subject to applicable legal obligations and technical limitations.

6. Your Data and Account Deletion

DateWatcher provides controls for managing your account and data through Settings → Privacy → Manage My Data and related account functionality.

You may request deletion of your DateWatcher account and associated personal information. Certain information may be retained when required or permitted by law, including for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or other legal obligations.

Deleting your DateWatcher account does not necessarily cancel an App Store subscription.

Subscriptions purchased through the App Store must be managed or canceled through your Apple account and Apple's subscription settings.

7. Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect information handled by DateWatcher. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

DateWatcher is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Third-Party Services

DateWatcher relies on third-party services to provide certain functionality. These may include Apple services for App Store purchases, StoreKit, Sign in with Apple, and push notifications, as well as cloud infrastructure and communications providers.

Your use of certain third-party services may also be subject to those providers' privacy policies and terms.

10. DateWatcher Is Not an Emergency Dispatch Service

DateWatcher is not an emergency dispatch service and does not replace police, fire, ambulance, 911, 112, or other local emergency services.

DateWatcher provides personal safety check-in and escalation tools, but notifications, SMS messages, location information, or other communications may be delayed or prevented by internet connectivity, cellular service, device configuration, battery status, operating-system restrictions, third-party outages, or other circumstances outside our control.

DateWatcher does not guarantee that a safety notification or escalation will be delivered, received, read, or acted upon.

If you are in immediate danger or experiencing an emergency, contact the appropriate emergency services for your location.
